Panda Pops

Frostylocks is back! This time with some beautiful wedding favours. The wedding had a slight animal theme, with the tables being named 'Whale', 'Penguin', 'Hippo' etc, but the bride and groom have a soft spot for pandas.

Each one of these 80 (yes, 80!) little pandas was loving hand crafted from scratch and individually bagged, ready for the beautiful wedding at Eaves Hall in Lancashire.

They all started life as simple balls of gooey cake, mixed with creamy frosting.

Next came hours of painstaking decorating and piping.

Happy pandas, all in a line!

Looking good and ready to go!

Candy Stripes

Pink and blue candy stripes are one of my favourite colour combos. I think they 'pop' so nicely and this cake looks straight out of a cartoon. What do you think?

With simple rolled roses to finish it off. Perfect for a (slightly civilised) mad tea party.

Woodland Wedding

A friend of mine from work got married a while ago, and asked me to do her cake. They were having an intimate family day, inspired by crafts, adventure and their love of the great outdoors.

I really enjoyed working on this cake, as it was so simple and elegant. Congratulations to the happy couple!

The bride had made her own topper, and I think it just finished it off nicely.

Carrot Patch

Some beautiful little carrot cakes for you today. Topped with vanilla icing, instead of the usual cream cheese frosting used with carrot cakes, as a bit of a change.
Each one topped with a hand-made carrot and a lavish sprinkling of glitter.

Veggies too cute to eat.

Cake Pops and sprinkles

Cake pops have been popular for a while now. Bite-size bits of squidgy cake wrapped up in chocolate. What's not to love? They are great for those of you that have a sweet tooth but don't want a huge piece of cake to tide you over til tea-time.
I decided to try some of my own and turns out they are fun, if not a little infuriating to make. (Yes, they did fall off the sticks a few times!)

Let me know what you think. Do you want to see more cake pops?

Beautiful butterflies

A few months ago I had the pleasure of making a wedding cake for one of my all-time favourite people. She was having a sci-fi-geek-butterfly theme. We went for simple and elegant for the main cake. Flavours included simple sponge with jam, lemon drizzle and toffee cake.

(I do apologise for the backgrounds in these photos - I didn't get chance to give them a proper photo shoot before they made their way down to London, but better photos are on their way.)

She also wanted a surprise grooms cake for her new hubby, so we incorporated Star Wars and Lego. Chocolate and toffee cakes layered together with toffee sauce. Yum.

St. Catherine's Cakes

I'm about 2 years late posting this, but better late than never! I made these cupcakes for the St. Catherine's 'yellow fate' a few years back, with all proceeds going to the hospice.

I think I made these the night of Eurovision, so the kitchen was full of the smells of fresh cake, and the sounds of terrible European pop. Good times.

Please 'like' St. Catherine's hospice on Facebook, and donate what you can. They are an amazing organisation who get a lot of their funding from public donations, and they help so many wonderful people.
